Black and brown represent marginalized LGBTIQ+ people of color, while blue, pink, and white symbolize diversity and inclusion. The horizontal colors hold deeper meanings as well, with red representing healing, yellow representing the sun, green representing serenity in nature, turquoise representing art, indigo representing harmony, and violet representing spirit. Additionally, a yellow color with a purple circle has been added in recent years to further include intersex individuals.
